We all know how instrumental the basics are to advancing our practice. But how often do you take the time to truly integrate them into your body?

In this workshop, we’ll explore Pre-Pilates exercises and clarify why they matter by showing how they connect directly to the work we do every day.

When you understand these connections, Pre-Pilates becomes more than preparation. It becomes a powerful teaching tool that informs how you see, cue, and progress the work.

The Reformer offers endless information, if you know how to look.

In this workshop, we’ll look at the Reformer through the teacher’s eye. You’ll learn how to define the purpose of the work, filter out unnecessary details, and use what you see to make better teaching decisions.

When you know what to prioritize, the work becomes clearer, more effective, and far less confusing for both you and the body in front of you.

Those feelings often come from getting lost in the details without a clear understanding of purpose.

In this workshop, we’ll bring the focus back to what matters most. You’ll learn the purposes of the Mat exercises we cover and how to prioritize those purposes within each exercise, rather than getting distracted by details.

When purpose leads, the Mat becomes clearer, more engaging, and far more effective. Your clients will feel the difference.

Spotting is one of the most direct ways we communicate with our clients.

A teacher’s hands are not just there to correct. They guide, clarify, support, and inform the body.

In this workshop, we’ll focus on using touch with intention. You’ll learn where to place your hands, how to place them, and when to use touch so it supports the work rather than distracts from it.

When you understand how to use your hands as a teaching tool, your spotting becomes clearer, more confident, and far more effective.

The arm/back connection plays a critical role in moving with strength and control.

In this workshop, we’ll look closely at how the arms and back integrate with the Powerhouse, and why this connection is often a missing piece. You’ll learn how to find it in your own body and how to recognize when it’s present or missing in your clients.

We’ll also cover when and how to teach this connection so it supports the work without creating confusion, regardless of a client’s level.

When the arm/back connection is understood as an extension of the Powerhouse, the work becomes stronger, more precise, and ultimately more controlled.

The pelvis plays a central role in how we stabilize, move, and generate strength.

We’ll take a closer look at the pelvis and how its positioning directly affects the spine, the Powerhouse, and overall movement quality. You’ll begin to see how restrictions, habits, or misalignment at the pelvis can either support or limit the work.

You’ll learn how to recognize a tuck and how to cue and guide your clients out of it, allowing them to find more freedom paired with stability and control.

When the pelvis is free, the rest of the body can move with greater ease, clarity, and strength

The barrels offer far more than simple support for stretching.

They open up a wide range of possibilities, from building thoughtful progressions to offering creative variations that meet different bodies where they are.

This work invites exploration. You’ll see how the barrels can deepen understanding of the exercises, expand your options for progression, and bring variety and challenge into the work without losing intention.

As your understanding of the barrels grows, so does your ability to use them with confidence, creativity, and purpose.

Pilates is not a collection of unrelated exercises. It’s a system built on repeated shapes, shared principles, and consistent purposes.

As we move through different apparatus and exercises, the work may look different, but what the body is being asked to do is often the same. The challenge changes. The support changes. The purpose does not.

This workshop looks at how those connections show up throughout the Method. You’ll begin to recognize familiar patterns across exercises and apparatus, and see how understanding those relationships brings clarity to your teaching and confidence to your choices.

When you see how it’s all connected, the work becomes simpler, more intentional, and far more effective.

Frog is a foundational exercise.

It reveals how the hips and pelvis are truly part of the Powerhouse, and why that relationship matters long before advanced exercises ever appear. When Frog is understood and taught well, it becomes a reference point for strength, control, and stability throughout the system.

This workshop looks closely at the purpose of Frog and how it prepares the body within the system, from Pre-Pilates all the way through Super Advanced work.

You’ll learn what to watch for, how to cue it with intention, and why this basic exercise plays such a powerful role in more advanced work.

Using small apparatus and seemingly simple exercises, we’ll look at how the fingers and toes, hands and feet, influence what happens up the chain, particularly through the back, hips, and seat. These small points of contact can dramatically change how the work feels and functions.

You’ll learn what to watch for, how to cue with intention, and how using the hands and feet more effectively can create greater length, strength, and connection throughout the body.

Small apparatus, when used well, can have a big impact on the work.

The Magic Circle has a unique way of bringing clarity to the work.

When used thoughtfully, you’ll see how it can assist movement, increase challenge, and refine alignment without adding unnecessary complexity.

I’ve always thought Joe called it the Magic Circle because it creates a deeper, more powerful connection to the Powerhouse… almost magically. Of course, it isn’t magic. It’s hard work!

When used with intention, the Magic Circle allows for those full-circle moments where things suddenly make sense, both in the mind and the body.

We’ll end the year with an homage to Romana. She liked to call these Mini Flows.

Mini Flows are creative ways to link exercises together, but they are not about being creative for creativity’s sake. They are designed to inspire and challenge both the mind and the body while staying rooted in The Original Method.

Mini Flows are a clever way to keep your clients engaged while also ensuring you don’t teach on autopilot. They encourage intention with connection without losing the integrity and purpose of the work.
